FIRE DOORS No fire door will be wedged or held open during the opening hours of the school. The vision panels in these doors will be free of signs or no�ces, to aid observa�on. FIRE ESCAPE ROUTES All fire escape routes will be maintained free of obstruc�ons and combus�ble materials at all �mes. EMERGENCY LIGHTING The Maintenance personnel will check the emergency ligh�ng is opera�onal regularly. Any malfunc�ons will be immediately reported, and requests will be made for immediate repair. ESCAPE SIGNAGE The Health and Safety Co-coordinator for buildings will check that escape signage is in place at least once every six months (during the regular audit procedure). FIRE ALARM The Maintenance personnel will check the fire alarm is in good working order regularly. A writen record will be kept of this check. The tes�ng of this will be conducted at �mes when minimal numbers of staff are on duty to reduce confusion. Any malfunc� ons will be immediately reported, and requests will be made for immediate repair. FIRE EXTINGUISHERS The loca�on of all fire ex�nguishers is recorded in the school’s Health & Safety policy. A contractor tests these for good working order once a year. Faulty or empty ex�nguishers will be replaced immediately. ASSEMBLY POINTS The assembly points for each class are designated areas on the turf (Appendix 2). In each classroom and corridors in the school is a plan that marks the exit routes to these points. This plan is checked during each internal school audit. FIRE FIGHTING Members of staff are only to consider figh�ng a fire if they have had the necessary training to operate a fire ex�nguisher and then only a�er they have ensured the safe evacua�on of all students from the premises. Nobody should re-enter the building at any �me un�l the all clear has been given. STAFF TRAINING Each term, the school will engage in a fire drill in order to prac�ce implemen�ng these plans. Fire drills will be unannounced and scheduled at different �mes of the school day. The results of fire drills will be recorded in the school’s Fire Records booklet, the Health & Safety Co- coordinator’s file. On ac�va�on of the fire alarm, all instances must be regarded as genuine and not false alarms. New members of staff will be informed of the detail of this plan as part of their induc�on procedures. CPD DAYS - The list of rooms allocated to Primary & Secondary staff children is provided to the Health & Safety team - The missing orange cards should be reported to the Opera�ons department -The impact on the movement between classrooms-exits
