2. VISITORS All visitors to the school should sign in, in the visitor’s book, located at Gate 1 & Gate 4. All visitors should sign out on leaving and, in the event of a fire alarm being raised, will be instructed on what to do and where to go. 3. ACTION ON DISCOVERING A FIRE 1. Raise the alarm without delay 2. If trained in the safe operation of the available firefighting equipment and only if it is safe to do so, attempt to extinguish the fire 3. Report directly to the assembly area, Under no circumstances should anyone return into the building without the Principal’s permission. In the absence of the Principals permission, the Head Fire Warden will make the decision. No-one will give the all clear un�l the fire services deem it safe to enter. 4. SUMMONING THE FIRE & RESCUE SERVICE 1. Your immediate priority is evacuation of the building. Incident Control Officer or Principal will telephone the fire and emergency services prior to evacuating the building, or the Principal will be instructed to do so from the assembly point. NOTE: 1. DO NOT STOP TO COLLECT YOUR PERSONAL BELONGINGS. 2. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PASS OTHERS ON YOUR WAY TO THE PLACE OF ASSEMBLY. 3. DO NOT RE-ENTER THE BUILDING UNTIL TOLD TO DO SO. Parents’ Consulta�on or Open days All person’s present will evacuate the building at the nearest exit points. The remaining fire wardens will co-ordinate evacua�on with the senior member of staff. Holiday Openings During school holidays the school will be open for cleaning and maintenance work. Members of staff also use the building to prepare for the coming term. All adults on site should make their presence known to the Security/Maintenance personnel; Upon leaving they should also inform the Security/Maintenance personnel. In the event of an evacua�on, the Security/Maintenance personnel should sweep the site to ensure all rooms are empty and that everyone is assembled at the assembly point. FINAL EXIT DOORS All final exit doors will remain unobstructed and unlocked when the premises are in use. These will func�on properly and will be tested at regular intervals by the caretaker to ensure they work properly. All doors are outward opening. No doors will have padlocks or chains on them when the premises are in use. THE ORDER TO EVACUATE WILL BE GIVEN BY THE TEACHER, WHO WILL INDICATE THE ROUTE TO BE FOLLOWED. FORM SINGLE FILE AND MOVE BY THE MOST DIRECT ROUTE TO THE PLACE OF ASSEMBLY. ACT QUIETLY
