HOUSE POINTS POLICY

PURPOSE: The House Point system is designed to reinforce posi�ve behaviour and provide a compe��ve context for students, building teamwork and a desire to succeed. House Points are awarded for individual atainment in the academic or extra-curricular programme and for service to the school or wider community. House points may be given to a group also. SCOPE: The House point system applies to all students in the school. Every child is given a House on entry to school and they will remain a member of this House throughout their �me at school . HOUSE NAMES AND MOTTOS ADHS has an ac�ve House System. The Houses are named as follows: MARCO POLO (RED HOUSE) House moto : Discover new Horizons. The moto stands for the spirit of adventure as of the explorer himself. ALBERT EINSTEIN (YELLOW HOUSE) House moto : Look up, Get up and Never give up. The moto stands for gaining knowledge with an open mind, as the genius himself. WILLIAM WORDSWORTH (BLUE HOUSE) House moto : Strive to Conquer. The moto stands for crea�vity, as the poet himself. JESSE OWENS (GREEN HOUSE) House moto : Race to the Finish Line. The moto stands for determina�on and figh�ng the odds as the athlete himself. Every member of the school community (staff and students) on joining the school will become a member of one of the four houses. House points will be managed and maintained by the Form Tutors and HOYs via the school ERP. House points will be awarded by teachers according to the House Points rubric. Areas in which House Points can be earned: Ø Showing good a�tude/behaviour/manners, kindness, care, help, friendship, acts of good Ci�zenship or other social behaviour in and around the school and playground. Ø Good organiza�on, �mekeeping, presenta�on of work, independence, ini�a�ve, integrity, honesty, pa�ence, tolerance, team work, determina�on and improvements in any area. Ø Achievements at other ac�vi�es including - class assemblies, school produc�ons, themed weeks, school trips or events. Ø Sports – Athle�c events, sports days, inter-house matches etc. Ø Volunteer work or achievements in or out of school. Ø Inter House compe��ons. Ø Inter School compe��ons, representa�on of the school at outside events. Ø Punctuality – Being on �me to class, cent percent atendance for the term or for the month etc., Ø Outstanding acts of kindness or politeness. Ø Outstanding role-modelling and behaviour always or a sudden and commendable change to behaviour. Ø Academic excellence (top 3 places) in the term exams.
