TRANSPORTATION POLICY PURPOSE: To outline procedures to be followed when an accident occurs on the road involving a school bus with children and/or staff in it. SCOPE: This procedure is applicable to all types of accidents and emergencies associated with School transport. It applies to all staff and students of ADHS who use the buses/transport and are aboard on route to and from school. RESPONSIBILITIES: Ac�on Step - I (Driver/Conductor/Transport In-Charge) The bus driver/conductor should inform the transport in-charge. Transport in-charge should inform the Principal/School Manager/Vice Principal/School Clinic (Doctor/Nurse) The Transport in-charge should proceed to the spot with an Emergency Operation Team (EOT) which comprises the school doctor/nurse and assistants with necessary First Aid. The Bus Driver/Conductor should inform the police (999) and ambulance (998), in case of any casualty. This should also be conveyed back to the school to keep the parents informed. The Transport in-charge should make necessary arrangements to take the injured children, if any, to the nearest hospital. Ac�on Step II – A (Admin) The Transport in- charge should proceed to the spot, assess the situa�on and should give a brief report of the incident to the Principal. The Principal in turn will inform the Registrar to ensure all parents of students on the said bus are kept informed and updated on the details and safe return of students. HR will inform the emergency contact person provided by the staff The Transport in- charge should make alterna�ve arrangements to con�nue the trip without delay. Transport Guidelines: 1. Guidelines for Buses and staffing Drivers are trained and hold a RTA school bus driving license and driver’s training course. Buses are installed with GPS and a Video Surveillance System. All bus attendants are trained by RTA and have mobile phones. There is a Transport In-charge for the school whose name and contact details are available on the Transport Registration Form/Parent Portal. Clear designated pickup and drop off points will be listed. The travel time may vary depending on the number of students / change in route. It is the responsibility of the parent(s) to ensure that their child / children is / are at the pick-up point at the designated time. Buses will not leave from collection points ahead of schedule. However, buses will not be able to wait at pick-up points after the scheduled time. Due to traffic delays buses, may arrive at pick-up points and drop-off points behind schedule. All vehicles, drivers and passengers are insured, and the company’s liability is limited to the comprehensive compensation paid by the insurance company as per the terms of the insurance policy.
