• The team will call the Ambulance if the child needs to be admitted to the hospital. • If an ambulance is called, if two nurses in the school one nurse will accompany the student, if one nurse in the school the administrator will accompany the student. A full report of the accident detailing the incident and the action taken will be recorded on an incident report form. • If student is to be transported via ambulance and the parent is unavailable, an appropriate school representative should accompany the student to the hospital which will be NMC Hospital or any other closest hospital. Be sure to take a copy of the medical information sheet of the child giving permission to hospital personnel for treatment. • Write full details about the incident and the treatment given to the child in the accident/illness record. Include time, date, and location on child’s body, size of injury, details of how accident occurred, and treatment given to child. • If ice pack is used during treatment, wash under warm soapy water before returning to the freezer. • Check whether anyone has come into contact with the injured child’s blood or bodily fluids and require these people to wash any contaminated areas with warm soapy water and dry with disposable paper towel. B. FIRE: • In case of fire the evacuation signal is given by ringing the fire alarm. • All students will be evacuated immediately from the school and should assemble near the assembly point. • The teachers and staff should adhere to the instructions given by the principal. • If it is safe to do so the try to extinguish the fire with help of the fire extinguisher. • Once at the assembly area the teachers will undertake a roll call of children, staff, and other personnel. • Orange cards need to be carried in order to give a clear head count. • Evacuate the building safely and smoothly supporting any persons on the way. CHILD ABDUCTION: If a child makes a report of a suspected abduction within or outside of the school, the following must be done. • The person who the report is made to must immediately notify their line manager. • The line manager will immediately inform the principal and the school manager regarding such report. • The principal will notify the police as soon as reasonably possible. A review of the CCTV should be conducted immediately; this will help to identify any potential perpetrators. • If the attempted abduction has occurred within the school, an immediate lock down of the school may be required. This will be initiated by the principal. • An investigation will be initiated gathering all the possible evidence related to the incident. • Counselling support will be provided to those affected. • Immediately close and secure the campus. Do not let (designee) any individuals leave. Limit access to the campus. Do not let unauthorized individuals come onsite. • Immediately notify police. • Appoint staff to surveillance points, have them note license plate numbers and look for any unusual activity. C. D.
