EMERGENCY RESPONSE PLAN

FIRE EVACUATION POLICY PURPOSE: The purpose of this procedure is to ensure that students and staff are made aware of the response measures to follow in the event of a fire. SCOPE: This procedure is applicable to all types of accidents and emergencies associated with ac�vi�es, including Health, Safety and Environmental Emergencies arising from natural disaster, fire, major incidents/accidents, environmental damage, terrorist or bomb threat, civil unrest or war. 1.Policy Overview This policy describes how Al Diyafah High School – Dubai meets its responsibility for fire preven�on, emergency preparedness and fire emergency evacua�on procedures. The policy aims to ensure that students and staff are made aware of the response measures to follow in the event of a fire, this includes training of staff for emergency evacua�on procedures and maintenance of building fire detec�on, alarm and ex�nguish ing systems. 1.1The School’s Fire Risk Policy is as follows: 1. To reduce the risk of fire as far as is reasonably practical. 2. To implement a system of early warning of the outbreak of fire. 3. To eliminate or reduce risks from dangerous substances. 4. To develop fire procedures and provide staff training, repeated periodically where appropriate. 5. To ensure the safety of staff or anyone else legally on the School’s premises. 6. To carry out fire drills and contact emergency services when necessary. 7. To appoint one or more competent persons (with sufficient training, experience and knowledge) to assist in taking preventative and protective measures (including firefighting and evacuation) 8. To have a suitable system for the maintenance of: clear emergency routes and exits (with doors opening in the direction of escape), signs, notices, emergency lighting where required, fire detectors, alarms and extinguishers, and to employ a competent contractor to carry out such equipment. 9. In view of the School’s integrated site, the School’s evacuation policy is that any alarm activation in either the Senior or Junior School will result in a full evacuation of both Schools blocks. 2.RESPONSIBILITIES 1. All members of staff in the school need to be aware of this plan and the school will remind employees at the beginning of each term of these arrangements to maintain appropriate precautions in the event of a fire on the school premises. 2. Principal, School Manager and the designated HSE personnel shall ensure that contingency plans are in place where necessary and periodically updated. 3. Three drills during the year to ensure plans are tested periodically to maintain effectiveness.
