PROMOTION POLICY

PURPOSE: The school‘ s mission is to provide every student with a high quality educa�on in a safe and secure learning environment. This policy is to establish the criteria for promo�on, and provide inclusive educa�onal opportuni�es to all students. SCOPE: Policy for Founda�on Stage and Years 1 -6 When a student enters a year level at a developmentally appropriate age, it is the responsibility of the school to ensure that the student remains on- track to be promoted to the next year level. Promo�on will occur at the end of each academic year, with s tudents remaining in their age cohort. All students in Founda�on Stage and Years 1 -6 will be promoted to the next year level Policy for Years 7-11 If a student enters an academic year at an appropriate age level, it is the responsibility of the school to provide the learning environment that allows the student to be promoted to the next year. With sufficient support, all students should be promoted t o the next year. Students who are mee�ng significantly fewer than expected learning outcomes should be iden�fied as soon as possible and monitored closely by the school. Adequate support must be provided by their teachers and/or Learning Support Team (LST). RESPONSIBILITIES: Promo�on will occur at the end of each academic year. The student performance will be evaluated con�nuously throughout the year and the end of year report is a cumula�ve record of the con�nuous assessment and the End of Term Summa�ve assessments. The students’ performance is graded using a percentage threshold as men�oned below: Grade Threshold Percentage A* - Outstanding 90-100 A – Very Good 80- 89 B - Good 70-79 C - Sa�sfactory 60-69 D- Needs Improvement 50-59 E – Unsa�sfactory 40-49 F – Failed below 40 All students in Years 7- 10 who have achieved Grades A- E in all subjects will be automa�cally promoted to the next year level. All students on Individual Educa�on Plans (IEPs) who meet their objec�ves progress to the next age -appropriate placement.
