LOCK DOWN POLICY Teaching Emergency Procedures :

Purpose: To be prepared for threats arising from within and outside the school premises. Scope: It is extremely important that all campus EMERGENCY plans be clearly understood by students, faculty and staff. All EVACUATION, LOCKDOWN and SAFE HAVEN procedures should be carried out calmly and professionally. Each administrator, teacher and staff memb er will have an important role in the procedures that follow. There shall be an annual review of these procedures and their efficient execu�on. Responsibili�es: • Teachers should practice all procedures in-class BEFORE any actual emergency. • All staff should make themselves aware of the nearest emergency Break Glass Unit(BGU) to their work station. • Answer all questions and try to relieve as much anxiety as you can. • Stress the importance of careful listening for directions. • Tell students to never leave campus on their own in any emergency situation. Discuss the safety and practical reasons for this. • Talk about what students should do if for some reason you are not there when a lockdown situation occurs • Stress the need for students to go with any teacher who can help them during a real emergency. • Talk about what students should do if they are in the restroom, library, hallway etc., if a real emergency should happen. • Discuss what to do if students are on break, in the cafeteria or special class locations during a real emergency. • Tell students that if they are not with their homeroom teacher during an emergency she/he will be notified about their location and join when safe. • Discuss why everyone needs to remain calm and quiet. • Reassure students that parents and police will be notified immediately In any real crisis situation. • Admit to students that you may not have all the answers, but reassure students that you will take charge of all situations and keep them safe. Crisis repor�ng procedures Only the following personnel are authorized to report a crisis to local authori�es: • Diyafah Management • School Principal/Manager • Vice Principal • This plan should be shared only with administrative personnel and staff employees • Should there be a need for a medical station to be established outside of the main office area, the school canteen will be the first choice and the multipurpose room on the ground floor will be the second choice.
